Elite Motorsport’s Alex Kattoulas set the quickest time of the week to end the second day of GB4 testing at Donington Park on top.
The Singaporean-Greek driver recorded his best lap of 1m28.211s first thing this morning, and despite Hillspeed’s Daniel Guinchard dominating proceedings thereafter, setting the fastest lap in the final three sessions, Kattoulas’ lap was enough to put him 0.159s clear of the field.
Three-in-a-row Guinchard had to settle for second best as he ended his first days of running in a single-seater for over a year, and was 0.055s ahead of Douglas Motorsport’s Luke Hilton in third, who set his best time after the lunch break.
Ary Bansal put the second Elite car fourth, also thanks to his session three time, and was just half a tenth further back.
Graham Brunton Racing’s Mayer Deonarine was again well up the order in fifth, 0.081s ahead of the lead Fortec runner of Thomas Ingram Hill.
Isaac Phelps, who led proceedings yesterday for Elite Motorsport was seventh today, setting his best time in the final session, and was just two thousandths of a second clear of the top Arden car of Leon Wilson.
Wilson’s fellow series returnee Jack Taylor was ninth for Fortec, with Douglas Motorsports Dayton Coulthard completing the top-10, which was covered by less than nine tenths of a second. Arden’s Ava Dobson in 11th was the final driver within a second of Kattoulas’ best time.
The GB4 field will return to action with two more days of official testing at Silverstone at the start of next week.
