British and USA F4 race-winner Alex Berg will race in the 2025 GB4 Championship with Graham Brunton Racing, completing the team’s all-Canadian three-car driver line-up.
The 18-year-old from Calgary has enjoyed a strong rise up the ranks, making his car-racing debut in 2020 in the MX-5 Challenge, having taken part in the Mazda Motorsports USA Factory Team Scholarship Shootout.
After finishing second in the championship with three wins and five podiums, he progressed into the 2021 Spec MX-5 Challenge for the Mazda Factory Team.
A step into single-seaters followed in 2022, with fifth place in the F4 United States Championship, with four podiums at the NOLA Motorsports Park, Road America and the Circuit of the Americas. He was also appointed as the test driver for the Ligier Automotive F4 car, used by the F4 US category.
His first win followed in 2023 with victory at the New Jersey Motorsports Park, before moving on to British F4 last year, with a triumph at Thruxton.
Berg is no stranger to the Graham Brunton Racing team - he won the Team Canada Scholarship in 2023 and raced with the Scottish squad in that year’s Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy events.
He now lines up for the team for the full GB4 Championship season, alongside fellow countrymen Callum Baxter and Mayer Deonarine.
Alex is the son of ex-F1 racer Allen Berg, and becomes the third son of an ex-Grand Prix racer to join this year’s GB4 grid, along with Luca Magnussen and Dayton Coulthard.
Alex Berg said: "I am very excited to join Graham Brunton Racing for the 2025 GB4 season. After the most challenging race season of my life in 2024, I’ve spent the off-season reconstructing myself, building self-confidence, and most importantly, putting together the budget to come back strong stronger than ever in 2025.
"Ever since I raced for Team Canada in the Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy with Graham Brunton Racing in 2023, I’ve always dreamed of the chance to come back to the team and I’m extremely grateful for Craig and Graham’s kindness and their willingness to work with me!
"I’m also extremely grateful for the support of Road To Racing Canada, Atna Pharmaceutical Consulting and Rohde & Liesenfeld for their continued support over the past few years.
"I’m working hard to bring new business to business deals to each of my sponsors which are in the industry of freight, forwarding pharmaceuticals and life sciences. Bring on 2025!"
Graham Brunton Racing Team Principal Craig Brunton said: “We are delighted to welcome Alex back into the team. He competed in the Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy under the Team Canada Scholarship in 2023 so we know him well. He’s a real engineer driver, always thinking about how the car is working under him, and I think the new 2025-spec GB4 car will really suit him.”
