Canadian racer Callum Baxter is confident of improving on his results from last year, as he returns to the GB4 Championship with Graham Brunton Racing.
The 18-year-old is the highest returning driver from 2025 to confirm their place on the grid for the upcoming campaign so far, and he returned to the wheel of a racing car last week, as he commenced his pre-season testing programme alongside the Scottish team with trips to Snetterton, Oulton Park and Donington Park.
“I’m incredibly excited to start again, especially with the new car and the number of new teams and drivers. It’s been four months since I’d been in a car, so I’m looking forward to the testing coming up soon” he commented.
“I’ve had a great winter. I’d not been on track since I represented Team Canada at the Formula Ford Festival in October. I’m at university full-time in Canada, so that has been my primary focus over the winter, but I’ve worked on staying mentally and physically prepared for the new season.”
Baxter is hoping that his experience of the circuits GB4 will race on this year will give him an early season advantage.
“My experience from last year will be a huge benefit,” he reckons. “Last year’s learning curve was steep, it was my first time with slicks and wings and my first time racing in the UK, which is very different from racing in Canada. I learned so much throughout the season that I can take into this year.”
GB4 features a new car this year, the Tatuus MSV GB4-025, and while Baxter acknowledges that this will create new challenges, his return to the Graham Brunton Racing squad will give him a key tool in his armoury compared to his rivals.
“It’s going to be an adjustment. Since I’m familiar with the tracks, I will be able to focus on adapting what I learned last year to the new car.
“Returning with the same team will give me a head start when testing begins. Last year was such a big step: new series, new country, new team, but I’ve established such a great connection with everyone at Graham Brunton Racing. We know and trust each other and can get down to business immediately.”
That continuity and experience should allow Baxter to figure strongly towards the front of the pack, as he aims to add to his double podium haul from last season.
“I’m hoping for more podiums and would love some wins, that’s what we will be working towards,” he concludes. “I’m happy with my progress last year, now we just need to build on last year’s success.”
