Guinchard: “I’m working harder than ever to show everyone I’m back for good!”

Daniel Guinchard, Hillspeed’s first signing for its GB4 return, is relishing the opportunity to demonstrate his potential again, as he gets back behind the wheel of a single-seater in a racing environment.

After stepping back into karts last year, following a race-winning British F4 stint, Guinchard is using GB4 as the platform for his car racing comeback, and is excited to get going.

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, with the new car coming in it should make for an exciting nail biting season” he reckons.

Having proven himself as a strong contender in British F4, the karting world champion will have a target on his back, but that’s something he’s ready to absorb and to use as ammo in his planned fight at the front of the pack.

“I think there’s always pressure when you return to motorsport after having some good results in the past,” he says, “however that pressure just pushes me on and I’m working harder than ever to show everyone I’m back for good.”

He’s hoping that his previous single-seater experience will prove to be an extra asset in his armoury, especially as he’s not expecting to be in the car as frequently as some of his rivals away from race events.

“I’m not going to have as much testing as the others, so I hope my previous experience in British F4 will help me adapt to the new car quickly and provide good results for the team from the off.”

As well as his British F4 experience, Guinchard has driven the previous generation GB3 car that has now morphed into the new Tatuus MSV GB4-025 for this year, giving him a potential extra edge.

“I’m really excited to drive the new car. I was never a massive fan of the British F4 car but I loved the GB3 car and I’m glad that DNA has been used when turning the GB3 chassis into the new GB4. It should be an amazing car.”

His move to GB4 unites him with Richard Ollerenshaw’s Hillspeed squad that challenged for both titles in the inaugural 2022 campaign, giving him further belief that a strong season could be in store.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Richard and the whole Hillspeed team. They’re a great bunch of people with a wealth of knowledge and I’m sure we can prove that to everyone this year.

“The goal is definitely to take the title. It’s not going to be an easy start due to the lack of testing I’ll be getting but I’ll be hungry to finish the season as champion.”
