Elite Motorsport’s Ary Bansal demonstrated superb pace on his first single-seater race weekend, and secured the first Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award as a result.
The Indian driver set the fastest lap in two of the three encounters of the season opening at Donington Park, recording a 1m27.427s in race one, which proved the best race lap of the weekend.
That particular race saw misfortune for Bansal, after losing his front wing at the first corner. After pitting to repair the damage, he rejoined in clear air, and was able to post his rapid lap time.
He had clear air again in race two, but this time at the front of the field. He made an excellent getaway from third on the grid and took the lead around the outside of Redgate, the same corner as his race one mishap.
He then pulled away at a rapid rate, but though he set fastest lap again with a 1m27.705s, it was his race one effort that won him the prize from Sunoco, GB4’s control fuel supplier.
