Isaac Phelps, Dan Guinchard and Alex Kattoulas were the top-three finishers in the first race of the new season for the GB4 Championship. Here's how each driver reacted at the end of the contest.
Winner, Isaac Phelps, Elite Motorsport:
"This feels really good, from double pole to a race win in my first race. There's so many people to thank, and it was a brilliant race. Starting on the new tyres was quite sketchy for my first single-seater race, so I struggled at the start but once they came in I found good pace. It was nerve wracking to say the least!
"My teammate Alex went from P7 to P3 so a pretty good drive from him too, and I think Elite has got it right for this year!"
Second, Dan Guinchard, Hillspeed:
"I was catching him a little at the start, but in the middle phase their tyres came on a little bit more. But then at the end it looked like we were closing in again. But overall I'm really happy with the pace, we were quicker in that race than we were in qualifying, so we definitely have the pace to do it, and it's a shame we're starting a little bit further back tomorrow, but we'll do what we can.
"We made a few tweaks [between qualifying and race one], but nothing major. I just sorted my driving out a little bit, put it together, and overall I'm really happy. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow now, especially the reverse grid race after my overtakes today, that should be exciting to watch!"
Third, Alex Kattoulas, Elite Motorsport:
"The start wasn't amazing but it was good enough I think. It got quite messy actually going down to the Old Hairpin, but then I made sure I stayed out of trouble and then picked the right spots to go through. When people made mistakes I made sure I capitalised on that. So a really good race, really good fun."
