What they said: Donington Park qualifying

07 September 2024

Finn Harrison, Leon Wilson and Linus Granfors were the top-three drivers in qualifying at Donington Park. Here's how each driver reacted at the end of the session.

Pole, Finn Harrison, Elite Motorsport
“We've done it here, we’re getting points and catching up, every session we’re improving on what we’re doing, good results again, we got our first win at Silverstone and aim is to just get points in for this race and try and catch up to the front three.

“The track kept changing and getting a bit quicker every time, I was just committing to the conditions of the track.

"I just want to get as many points as I can physically to hopefully try and bring me close back to where I should’ve been all year.”

Second, Leon Wilson, Arden Motorsport
“We were hoping for pole obviously, we should’ve been there on that last lap but I just pushed a bit too hard into the Old Hairpin and had a big snap, but we should have been there but I’m really happy with the result still.

“I've got to go for the win but anything can happen in these conditions; obviously if it stays slicks we’re going to be on all-new tyres and it’s going to be hard to get those warm in these temperatures, so whoever can get them the warmest off the start is going to be up there.

“I haven't really have the luck on my side too much this year, but oh well, just got to keep going. Really a learning year for us so hopefully going to come back stronger next year and win.”

Third, Linus Granfors, Fortec Motorsport:
“There was a lot of traffic after the red flag so it was a bit hard to get a lap in without traffic, so on the last lap, I think I was on a good lap and then in the last sector I got some traffic. So a bit unfortunate but it feels great to be P3.

“We’re going for the win in both races of course, then we’ll see what we can do in the reverse grid race. I think it will be a bit more difficult to overtake in the reverse grid but first get a good first lap in the first and second races and we’ll see.”
