2023 GB4 Championship runner-up Cooper Webster was in impressive form at the Macau Grand Prix last weekend, as he claimed a top-five finish in the legendary street race.
The Australian, who won five GB4 races last year, was in the mix towards the sharp end of the 27 car field throughout, and was a strong sixth fastest in Friday's qualifying session for Saturday's Qualifying Race.
Webster, driving for former GB4 squad Evans GP, was strong in that contest too, finishing sixth on the road, just 1.5 seconds behind the winner, before being hit with a five second time penalty for causing a collision, dropping him to 15th in the final classification.
That meant he started from the same position in the main Grand Prix, but he steered clear of all the trouble and mayhem in the red flag and safety car interrupted 15 lap contest to rise up to a superb fifth place at the chequered flag.
“To finish fifth at Macau in my first time racing here and in Formula Regional machinery is a fantastic result,” Webster commented.
“The Guia Circuit is one of the toughest tracks I’ve ever driven, and I’m proud to have delivered this result for Evans GP.”
