KMR Sport’s Harry Burgoyne topped three of the four test sessions at Oulton Park on Tuesday, as GB4 pre-season testing kicked off in Cheshire. Whilst the Flying Scotsman led the times for much of the day, he was pushed hard all the way by Elite Motorsport’s Alisha Palmowski, who was just 0.065s behind.
In wet conditions this morning, Burgoyne was a good chunk clear of the field, as the series returnee showed his experience. He maintained a 1.5 second advantage after the second session, in which he set his best time of the day, a 1m36.538s.
Things closed up a lot after the lunch break however, as Ginetta Junior graduate Palmowski set a 1m36.728s to top session three, with her fellow Elite runner Finn Harrison second, and within a tenth of a second, with Burgoyne also within touching distance.
Burgoyne topped the final session, but fell shy of improving his overall best by less than 0.030s. Palmowski though did improve, with her 1m36.603s putting her second in the session and for the day, with Harrison taking third overall courtesy of his session three time.
Fortec debutant Jack Taylor was fourth quickest as he visited Oulton Park for the first time, and despite a small incident in the second session.
Arden’s Leon Wilson was just 1.3s away from the pace as he gears up for his first ever car race, with Fortec’s Dan Hickey sixth, as he evaluates a full season campaign.
KMR meanwhile handed another test to Gracie Mitchell, who showed strong improvements during the day, recording a best time of 1m41.437s in the third session.
Testing at Oulton Park continues tomorrow, with cars from Graham Brunton Racing set to join, ahead of further tests at Donington Park and Silverstone in the coming weeks.
