GB4 testing day two: Burgoyne tops Thursday at Donington Park

14 March 2024

KMR Sport’s Harry Burgoyne was the fastest driver on the second day of testing at Donington Park, courtesy of his morning time in session one.

His effort of 1m28.865s was enough to put him 0.149s clear of Elite Motorsport’s Alisha Palmowski, who set her best time of the day in session two. Her effort of 1m28.852s from day one remained the best of the week by a scant 0.013s. The duo dominated the test, with Buroyne topping three of the week's sessions, and Palmowski the other five.

Palmowski was a quarter of a second clear of teammate Finn Harrison, who joined the test today after missing yesterday’s action and set his best time in session four. Meanwhile, Arden’s Leon Wilson continued his strong progression by setting the fourth quickest time of the day, 0.327s further back.

Fortec’s Australian Jack Taylor, completing his first tests at Donington Park, was an encouraging fifth fastest on Thursday, ahead of Fox Motorsport’s Branden Templeton, who like Wilson, is gearing up for his first ever car races in a couple of weeks’ time. Both drivers were within nine tenths of Burgoyne’s outright pace. All three drivers recorded their best efforts in the final test.

Taylor’s teammate Dan Hickey posted the seventh quickest time, a tenth clear of the second Fox Motorsport car of Megan Bruce who was just a tenth further back.

Preptech UK’s Flame Airikkala completed the runners in ninth place, as she continued to make strong progress across the two days, and setting her best time in the final session of the week.

Testing resumes at Silverstone next week, with two further days on the 19th and 20th March.
