KMR Sport confirms Lucas Blakeley GB4 return for Snetterton and Silverstone

28 June 2024

GB4 podium finisher Lucas Blakeley will return to the GB4 Championship with double champions KMR Sport at Snetterton and Silverstone.

The 22-year-old raced in the series with the team at Snetterton and Donington Park last year, claiming an emotional podium finish at the latter event in just his fourth slicks and wings race, before going on to take a pair of fifth place finishes.

The F1 Esports champion has grown his on track presence across the past year, taking podiums in Formula Ford competition, building on his reputation as one of the world’s leading digital competitors, where he competes for McLaren Shadow, the official Esports arm of the legendary F1 team.

His success in the digital arena led to him competing in the Race of Champions for two consecutive years, defeating Sebastian Vettel, Valtteri Bottas and Mika Hakkinen in separate contests, as well as claiming the 2023 eROC title.

Blakeley joins title challenger Harry Burgoyne and Chloe Grant at the Gloucestershire-based squad, which currently leads the Team standings after the first three events of the season.

Lucas Blakeley said: “Firstly, I’m hugely grateful to KMR Sport for the opportunity to return to GB4, I had a blast racing with them last season at Snetterton and Donington, so I’m immensely grateful and exited to be racing again.

“My goals are pretty simple, I want to pick up from where I was and continue improving lap by lap, and to be as competitive as possible. I’ve got great memories from Snetterton last year, and to be racing around the Silverstone GP circuit will be a dream come true. I truly can’t wait to get started.”

Team Principal Kevin Mills said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Lucas back to the team for the next two rounds at Snetterton and Silverstone. Based on his performances last year we know he’ll be competitive, and he should be in the mix in the top half of the grid again, especially as his seat time builds. It was a pleasure to see him on the podium last year, hopefully the opportunity presents itself to exceed that over the next two rounds.”
