What they said: Silverstone race one

Linus Granfors, Lucas Blakeley and Alisha Palmowski were the top three finishers in the first GB4 race of the weekend at Silverstone. Here's how the top-three reacted after the opening encounter.

Winner, Linus Granfors, Fortec Motorsport:
"It feels good, there was a lot of pressure from Lucas, if I made a mistake he was going to try and overtake me, but I didn't make many mistakes in this race, so it was good.

"I've been looking at his [Linus' brother Joel] video from when he was doing GB3 of course, he was also fast here so it must be a Swedish thing to be fast here!

"It feels good to be back in the championship lead, we're fast at Donington which is coming up after this weekend. We've not been to Brands Hatch so we don't know how fast we will be there, but we know for sure that we are fast here!"

Second, Lucas Blakeley, KMR Sport:
"I tried, I tried! He was right in front of me so there's a little hint of disappointment that we didn't get the win, but congratulations to Linus, he didn't make any major mistakes. I put him under pressure, but thanks to KMR Sport, the car was working really nicely in that race, I had a lot of fun. We get another go tomorrow though, starting from the front row, so all in all I'm happy.

"This is testament to the work that the team and myself have tried to put in over the test sessions and qualifying, it is all starting to piece together nicely. Obviously everyone else has already raced here this year, so I knew I had to come here this weekend and get on it immediately. If you'd have told me that I'd run Linus really hard for the win, given how much he dominated here earlier in the season, I'll absolutely take that going into tomorrow."

Third, Alisha Palmowski, Elite Motorsport:
"It was quite nerve wracking to be honest, especially towards the start of the race. But we had a pretty good start and managed to get into third on lap one on the approach to Stowe. But then after that I clearly didn't have the pace to the front two guys ahead of us. We've got a debrief to do as a team, because I don't turn up to finish third, I want to win races, so it's not where I want to be. But I was aware that I was falling away and didn't have a slipstream to the guys in front, and I was aware that I was towing the guys behind. Especially at a place like Silverstone at such high speed, I was worried I might have been a bit of a sitting duck potentially. But we were ok, we managed to pull away and then it was a bit of a boring race, but I had quite a lot of understeer in the car, so I was trying to manage that as best as possible. Hopefully we can take the fight to the guys tomorrow."
