Granfors retakes GB4 title lead with Silverstone race one triumph

27 July 2024

Fortec Motorsports’ Linus Granfors converted pole position into his fifth win of the year in the first GB4 Championship race of the weekend at Silverstone.

Granfors held off KMR Sport’s Lucas Blakeley, who hovered in his mirrors for the entirety of the race, with less than a second splitting the pair for the majority of the contest. The Swedish driver hung on to take victory by half a second over Blakeley, who scored his third podium in four races since his comeback at Snetterton.

Elite’s Alisha Palmowski passed Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter on the first lap to claim third place, while KMR’s Harry Burgoyne and Baxter battled throughout, with Burgoyne emerging on top to secure fourth ahead of the Canadian, who tried every which way to make a pass.

Fox Motorsport's Branden Templeton converted his best qualifying result into a strong sixth place, a second clear of Arden's Leon Wilson, while Fortec's Jack Taylor was embroiled in fights throughout the event and secured a strong eighth place.

Elite's Finn Harrison recovered from a stall at the start to rise back up the order to ninth, finishing ahead of Fortec's Dan Hickey, who held onto a top-10 spot after a drag race to the line with KMR Sport's Chloe Grant.

Fox Motorsport's Megan Bruce, and series VRD Racing's debutant Ava Dobson completed the runners.

The second race of the weekend is due to commence at 12.15 tomorrow (Sunday).
