Harrison hurries into George Russell Pole Position Cup battle

30 April 2024

Elite Motorsport’s Finn Harrison enjoyed a strong weekend at Silverstone, as the British driver delivered his best GB4 performances so far.

Having shown plenty of speed at Oulton Park, but without the luck to go with it, this time around there was a reward for his efforts, as he claimed a double pole position in qualifying with a last ditch effort.

Fortec’s Linus Granfors looked on course to claim top spot in the 15-minute session on Saturday, but Harrison’s effort of 2m16.714s right at the end in tricky conditions knocked the Swede off his perch.

In doing so, Harrison’s second best time, just a couple of tenths off his outright best, also secured him pole for race two, with the entire qualifying picture changing in the final seconds.

Harrison converted the first of his pole positions into a strong fourth place, his first points finish of the year. But his second pole resulted in his first podium finish in single-seaters, and his haul from the weekend lifted him into the top-10 in the championship standings.

With his efforts, Harrison claimed £250 in prize money (£125 per pole) and joins KMR Sport’s Brandon McCaughan at the top of the George Russell Pole Position Cup standings after two of the seven rounds.
