Dan Hickey to contest GB4 season finale with Fortec Motorsport

09 October 2023

Fortec Motorsport has confirmed that emerging British talent Dan Hickey will join its GB4 Championship line-up for the season finale at Donington Park on 21-22 October.

The 21-year-old will make his debut in both single seaters and car racing at the Leicestershire venue, after a year completing extensive testing with the support of Fortec’s renowned driver development programmes.

The Leicester-based driver has been present at a number of official and private tests so far in 2023, to get better acquainted and up to speed with the Tatuus F4-T014 used in the UK’s most cost-effective single seater series.

He will join new team-mates Colin Queen and Aditya Kulkarni for the season-concluding triple header in the East Midlands, as the defending champions look to end the 2023 campaign on a positive note, after another silverware-laden campaign.

Donington will also provide the perfect opportunity for Hickey to test himself in race trim at this level, as he targets a race programme for 2024 and beyond.

Dan Hickey said: “I’m super excited to have the opportunity to take part in the last round of the GB4 championship, especially to be driving with such a dedicated and successful team that is Fortec Motorsport.

“After some positive testing and preparation with Fortec and under the guidance of my coach, Oli Webb, I’m really looking forward to getting started.

“Having come from a non-racing background, it’s going to be a challenge but one I look forward to! It's going be really fun, and I can't wait to carry the experience into 2024.”

Team Principal Ollie Dutton said: “I’m really excited to announce Dan as one of our GB4 drivers for the finale at Donington Park.

“We’ve been working with him for a year now in testing to help build up both his speed and confidence in the car. The GB4 car is perfect for driver development, and we’ve been so impressed with the rate of progress he’s made.

“Donington gives us the perfect opportunity to see where he’s at in a race situation, and then inform his programme for the winter ahead of 2024, when we hope to see him on the grid full-time.

“He’s worked with Colin and Aditya in testing all season, so there’s already a great synergy between all three of the drivers, and I’m sure that’ll help us end the season on a strong footing.”
