Evans GP’s Cooper Webster claimed his third and fourth GB4 pole positions of the season in qualifying at Donington Park this morning.
The Australian, looking to cement the runner-up spot in the championship standings, set a best time of 1m39.384s, and was a quarter of a second clear of nearest rival Liam McNeilly, with Fortec’s Colin Queen, another looking for the runner-up spot, taking third.
In a frantic final three minutes after a red flag stoppage, Webster had enough time to improve his time by 1.5 seconds, with several drivers taking turns to challenge him, with McNeilly ending up second and 0.256s behind, with Queen 0.6s further back.
VRD’s Zack Ping was another to make big improvements and jumped to fourth at the team’s home track, ahead of the lead KMR Sport car of Lucas Blakeley, who held second late on before being bumped down to fifth.
Elite’s Finn Harrison was the fastest newcomer, taking an impressive sixth spot in his first single-seater qualifying session, 0.010s away from Blakeley.
Graham Brunton Racing’s Harry Burgoyne took seventh spot ahead of KMR’s Jack Clifford, while Elite’s second newcomer, Radical champion Theo Micouris was ninth quickest ahead of Fox Motorsport’s Sid Smith, who completed the top-10.
The remaining two newcomers Daniel Hickey and Lexie Belk qualified 14th and 15th respectively, with the first race of the weekend due to commence at 17.05.
