How to follow GB4’s first ever race weekend

How to follow GB4’s first ever race weekend

31 March 2022

The 2022 GB4 Championship season opener takes place this weekend at Snetterton (2-3 April), with qualifying and three races to look forward to, as well as two days of pre-event testing on Thursday and Friday.

The weekend will also mark the debut of GB4’s class-leading broadcast package, which will see each race streamed online, as well as pre-race build up, post-race analysis and interviews from the presenting team of Jon Jackson and commentator Lewis McGlade.

Before that comes two days of testing action at the Norfolk circuit with seven hours of track time on Thursday, and four 30-minute sessions on Friday. Here’s the full weekend schedule, and details of how visitors to gb-4.net can follow all the on track activity throughout the event.

THURSDAY
09.00 – 12.30 – Test session one
13.30 – 17.00 – Test session two

GB4 cars will share the circuit with machinery from its sister championship GB3, with a total of seven hours’ track time. The day will run in an open pit lane format, meaning teams and drivers can complete as much testing as they’d like. Full live timing will be available by clicking here

FRIDAY
10.10 – 10.40 – Session one
11.55 – 12.25 – Session two
14.45 – 15.15 – Session three
16.30 – 17.00 – Session four

Sole focus turns to GB4 on Friday, with a total of two hours’ track time across four separate sessions. Live timing will again be available on the official GB4 Championship website.

SATURDAY
10.25 – 10.40 – Qualifying (live timing available on the GB4 website)
14.50 – 15.08 – Race One (pre-race live coverage starts at 14.20)

The all-important qualifying session gets underway at 10.25, and will decide the grid for races one and two of the weekend. Each driver’s fastest time will form the race one grid, and second fastest times will determine the starting order for race two. The inaugural GB4 race starts at 14.50, with live coverage due to start approximately 30 minutes beforehand. Be sure to stick around afterwards to see live driver interviews and the podium ceremony. Races will be broadcast on the live timing page of the GB4 website, the MSV YouTube channel and the championship’s official Facebook page

SUNDAY
10.20 – 10.38 – Race two (live coverage starts at 10.00)
15.08 – 15.26 – Race three (live at 14.48)

The second and third races of the weekend follow on Sunday, and both will also be live streamed with the same extensive pre and post-race coverage. Race two on Sunday morning will start at 10.20 with live coverage starting 20 minutes beforehand, while the final event at 15.08 will be a spectacular reverse grid contest, based on the complete reversal of the qualifying result, with drivers eligible for the reverse if they lap within 103% of the outright fastest driver. Points will also be awarded for positions gained by each driver. Live coverage will be available via the same sources.
